Yves Louis Desir Sr. was born on November 1, 1948, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Louis and Jeanne Desir, and was the youngest of four children. From the very beginning, he brought joy, love, light, and peace to those around him.

 

While living in Haiti, he met the love of his life, Marie O. Desir at a young age and later married her on June 17, 1972. Their love story    became the foundation of a remarkable 54-year marriage marked by devotion, partnership, and unwavering support. Together, they were blessed with three beautiful children who became the pride and joy of their life.

 

In Haiti, Yves worked at the National Printing Press. After immigrating to the United States in 1975, he built a new life for his family with     determination and hard work continually providing for them. He worked at Gold corporate company, Palace laundromat and then LaGuardia Family Health Center with his brother-in-law, before later retiring to Florida in 2005.

 

Throughout his journey, from Haiti to the United States, family was at the center of Yves’s life. He was a devoted husband, father, grand-father, great grandfather, sibling, uncle, and friend who loved deeply and unconditionally. His presence was often filled with laughter, love, and wisdom. Those who knew Yves will remember him for his famous saying, “I got your back,” and “my man.”

 

On June 6, 2026, Yves peacefully departed this life at the age of 77. While our hearts are heavy with sorrow that we lost such a gentle soul, we are grateful for the many memories, lessons, and blessings that he shared with us throughout his life.

 

Yves is survived by his beloved wife, Marie O. Desir; his children,     Ludovic G. Desir and his wife Weslyne Desir, Yves L. Desir Jr., Jessica Morgan and her husband Cornel Morgan Sr., his grandchildren, Alex R. Desir, Larenz Y. Mitchell, Zara G. Desir, Gabrielle M. Desir, Cornel S. Morgan Jr., Chase N. Morgan; his great granddaughter Riyah R. Pou, his siblings, Serge Desir and his wife Yanick Desir, Algabin Desir and his wife Tiliamise Desir, Carmen Adisson and her husband Leclerc    Adisson, his adopted son Anthony Thevenin and his wife Erlande Thevenin and their children Kaira, Ariel, and Nyia Thevenin, his     brothers and sisters-in-law Luger Thevenin, Ronald Thevenin, Henri K. Thevenin, Rose Andre and Jonas Alvarez, Marie and Guy Vincent,    Sabine and Jean Claude Etienne, and many other loving relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

 

Although Yves is no longer physically present with us, his love, faith, strength, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. We take comfort in knowing that a life so beautifully lived leaves behind a lasting impact that can never be forgotten.
