WESSEL ALPHANSO SHAKESPEARE was born to his
matrimonial parents, Aubrey and Leanoraa Shakespeare, in the
District of Moravia, Clarendon, Jamaica, on May 20, 1942.
Wessel was the fourth of seven boys; his brothers were Lloyd,
Owen, James, Sylvester, Emel, and Cecil; Rema was the only sister.
At the very tender age of 11, he was invited to Kingston, Jamaica,
by his older brother, Owen, where he nished his schooling.
Wessel was o ered a job at Jamaica Banana Producer by his Pastor,
Egbert Lewis.
Wessel was assembled with one of his brothers, James, in working.
ey both worked on a ship that sailed between England and
Jamaica monthly.
Wessel and his brothers, Owen and James, became members
of Pilgrims Union Church of God at 3a Sommerset Avenue,
Kingston 16. Wessel and James were also ordained Deacons in
God's Vineyard.
Wessel then met Rosalee Spencer, who became the love of his life,
and he married her on March 4, 1970.

is union produced twin girls on May
5, 1978, but on July 5, 1978, one of the twins passed away, leaving
the surviving twin, Cindy. Five years later, the union produced
another girl, namely Ruth, on February 1, 1983, who passed on
January 31, 2019, leaving her parents, Wessel and Rosalee; husband,
John Smith; three very special blessings, daughter, Jaiannah Smith,
and sons, Joshua Smith and Joel Smith; their other grandparent,
Pastor W. Smith; and a host of other family members.
On the third of December 2019, Wessel came home from church
at 3748 Lagrange Drive, and became sick by throwing up. His
daughter, Ruth, called 911 and rushed him to the hospital, where
he was admitted and remained for two weeks. He was transferred to
the rehab facility at 2500 Church Street, but was again transferred
back to the hospital, and all this went on and on, being sent from
one facility to another. He was nally placed in hospice care,
where he passed away so very peacefully. He will be sadly missed
by his church family, his six brothers, his only sister, Rema, his
only daughter, Cindy, a host of other family members and friends,
and his caring, loving wife, Rosalee.
