Violet (Jean) Thomas was born on St. John’s Road in Spanish
Town in the parish of St. Catherine, Jamaica on November 4, 1951
to Louis May Dinnall-Gibson and Cecil Thomas (Brown’s Hall of
St. Catherine) (both deceased).
Violet attended Thompson Town Primary School in the parish of
Clarendon, Jamaica with her sister Dorothy Thomas Raymond;
affectionately called “Joy”.
Violet migrated to Nassau, Bahamas in the 1970s and later
migrated to the United States. Violet worked at the major casinos
(Resort, Show Boat, Trump Plaza, Caesar and the Bally’s) in
Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was the sole provider for a
household of thirteen.

Violet relocated to Florida in 1991 to be close to her mother and
relatives. Here she acquired many new friends and acquaintances
and became a member of First Baptist Church.
She loved a clean and well-organized home; enjoyed cooking,
shopping and spending quality time with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
She was the foundation that kept the family together with relatives
near and far.
Violet will be remembered for her kindness, her strength and being
