Patrick Wright Obituary

Mr. Patrick St. Augustine Wright was born on  October 1, 1938 in Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica., West Indies to the late Samuel Wright of South Carolina and Chrislyn Crowe-Wright of Treasure Beach, Jamaica.

Mr. Wright was the second of four children. After the  passing of his  father at a young age, Pat and his family relocated his family to his grandparent’s home in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth. He then moved to Kingston where he attended Kingston Technical High School. Upon completion, he went on to study at the College of Arts, Science, and   Technology (CAST) where he received his degree in Engineering. He subsequently was employed with R. Hanna and Sons. Patrick affectionately known as Pat, married his sweetheart, Vivienne McDonald on December 2, 1967. from this union they had three sons, in addition to his first three children; two sons and a daughter. Pat proudly opened his first business, Hemisphere Shoe Company, where he manufactured and supplied shoes all over the island of Jamaica. He also opened a store; V. Lee Fashions, and he eventually focused on the shoe industry until he was asked to represent Jamaica’s JIDC in diplomatic arena. This required extensive traveling to many countries throughout the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, and the United States studying their technologies and products.

Patrick entered the next phase of his life when he rejoined his family and relocated to New York City. It was there he continued learning about other industries before settling in the furniture retail  business. He enjoyed working for Seaman's Furniture until moving to Orlando, FL. He continued working with Kane’s  and Hudson Furniture Company He eventually retired and enjoyed a relaxed pace of life, while having to deal with kidney disease and diabetes. Pat  continued to explore his passion for traveling the world and experiencing different cultures. He had  hopes moving back to his beloved island of Jamaica one day. However, it was not meant to be as he left us to explore another world on July 30, 2020. He will be missed and lovingly remembered for his ability to  engage with anyone and make then feel so important and needed. He also had a very dry sense of humor which will not be forgotten.
