Merlene was preceded in death by her Father - Marshall Smith and Mother - Martha Janie Smith, Sisters - Diane Franchise, Cassandra Smith, Brother -Bryant Smith Sr.

She is survived by five children - Calandra Smith, Randy Smith, Tiffany Scarlett, Leroy Scarlett, and Sammy Scarlett. Children she raised: Bobby Franchise, Shika Jenkins, Tamesta Roberts, Shanturah Brathwaite; Four Sisters - Deborah Jackson, Lillian Neal, Katina Simpson, and Karen Gallon; two Brothers - Marshall Smith Jr. and Tracy Smith; 20 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives who will miss her dearly.
