Mary Bell Obituary

Mary Lou Johnson Bell was born on February 15, 1941, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late John Arthur Johnson and Sallie Mae Brailsford Tindal. Her family relocated to Summerton, South Carolina, where she graduated from Scott’s Branch High School. In the late 1960s, Mary Lou relocated to Weirsdale, Florida, where she later met and married her beloved late husband, Manor Bell of East Lake Weir, Florida. She worked as a lead custodian for the Marion County School Board. She later relocated to Ocala, Florida, where she finished her career. Mary Lou Bell accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of East Lake Weir First Baptist Church of East Lake Weir, Florida, where she had the honor of serving as a church mother.

Mary Lou Johnson Bell loved and cherished her children, her family, and her friends. She lived a full, beautiful life. Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting Mary Lou was left with an indelible mark on their heart. She lived a life of service and nurtured everyone and everything she touched, all with such grace.

Among those left to cherish her memory are: her beloved children, Ray A. Johnson, Mary E. Adams, Kenny (Sandra) Johnson, all of Ocala, Florida, John A. (Bonita) Johnson of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Sheryl L. (Tom) Johnson of Ocala, Florida; and her beloved sister, Aletha Solomon of Ocala, Florida. She was blessed with: 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, David P. Johnson.
