Linda Reid Obituary

The sun shined bright and strong on the beautiful morning of May 05, 1937, in St. Elizabeth, Maggotty, Jamaica W.I., for the special birth of Linda May Ledgester. She was a huge blessing to her parents the late Emily Williams and Cyril Ledgester.

Linda began honing her dress-making skills and embarking on her education at Glen  Stewart Primary School. She took her studies very seriously and at an early age she demonstrated a talent for sewing and cooking. Ultimately, this began her journey to becoming a first-class seamstress. Cutting and crafting miracles with her hands came naturally. If she dreamed it, then best believe, she could achieve it, with or without a pattern. Linda was known for making clothing, home furnishings, and any other special requests from her customers. She took pride in her craft and always ensured that she put a smile on each one of her customers' faces. She always challenged her creative abilities by experimenting with new prints and fabrics. However, her greatest joy was to be able to create beautiful things for her family and home. She was the epitome of the perfect wife, and she instilled these values into the lives of all her granddaughters either by teaching them how to sew, cook, and trusting the Lord. In 1954, she met the love of her life Clinton Sylvester Reid. They courted for many years before getting married on January 24, 1970.To this union, seven children were born. They spent seventy-two beautiful years of their lives together. Linda and Clinton relocated to Kingston, Jamaica so their family could have more opportunities. In 1987, the couple migrated to the United States of America with their five children to join their eldest daughter Elaine in Buffalo NY. Linda worked for multiple companies like the Grey Hound Bus Station, St Francis Hospital, and Burger King. She volunteered at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church during annually for Vacation Bible School. She made alterations to all the church choir robes for many years. She was not able to finish her education early on in life, due to sharing the responsibility of caring for her family. As a result, she attended the Adult Learning Center where she received her general education diploma, customer service, and computer literacy certificates. This showed her determination in accomplishing her goals no matter how long it took. She was a walking testimony of her favorite bible verse, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”. She genuinely loved to serve others, which led her to establishing her own business “Linda’s Dressmaking.” She always had a smile on her face no matter what trial and tribulation she faced. Her laughter could fill any room no matter how big it was. In her leisure, she enjoyed reading the bible, cooking and baking restaurant-quality food,   gardening, and watching her favorite soap opera “Young and the Restless “. Most of, all she enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends during her famous Sunday dinners. On April 30, 2022, the Lord returned for his ray of sunshine, to relieve her from a lengthy battle with illness. She was an extraordinarily strong woman guided by her faith, which helped her to fight the good fight to the very end. Although she is gone, her memories will continue to live on in our hearts and minds forever. She made an enormous impact on everyone that she encountered in her life. Every time we utilize something that she created; it will serve as a refreshing reminder of her love. When she transitioned home to be with the Lord, she lived with her eldest daughter, Elaine and son-in-law Luis Delgado who were her primary caregivers. Linda M. Reid was preceded in death by her Beloved Husband Clinton S. Reid, Parents (Emily and Cyril), Daughter  Beverly Reid, and Siblings Derrick Levy and Clardeth Mckay.

Linda leaves to cherish her memories: Six Children, Elaine (Luis) Delgado, Doreen (Tyrone) Jarrett, Patrick Reid, Conrad Reid, Carlton Reid, Stefan (Latoya) Reid, Brother Earle Morrison, Twelve Grandchildren, Thirteen Great Grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. who will miss her dearly.
