Jasbert Roy Levy, also known as “Joshie,” was
born on February 14, 1947. He was the second child of Ivy
Mae Gregory. As a child he lived with family members after
his mother migrated to England. Jasbert has nine siblings.
His brother, Eddie, resides in Miami, Cynthia resides in New
York, and two passed away. He has many family members,
including lots of nieces and nephews.
Jasbert moved to St. Catherine as a child to live with Mass
Tom and Miss Mary and other relatives. He was married to
Ionie and has two children, six grandchildren, and three
great-grands. Jasbert travelled back and forth many years
working as a seasonal worker on a farm in Belglade and
New Hampshire. He was such a good hard worker that his
Boss asked him to set up for the season with other Jamaican
colleagues.
Jasbert decided to move on due to new ownership of the apple
farm and the death of his wife. He was residing in New Jersey
and decided relocate to Orlando. After relocating to Orlando,
he worked as a custodian at the convention center for many
years which he enjoyed. He was always looking for better
opportunities and finally found a better job with Universal
Studios. He loved to work so much that he went to work two
hours prior to his shift so he could look around.
After many years of working in construction and other odd
jobs, during these times he met a wonderful lady, Miss Ruby.
She was the love of his life until the last day he took his final
breath. She will always love him and will miss him dearly.
After retiring last year, Jasbert still kept busy with planting
and farming around the house. He was briefly ill over a period
of time and was planning to return for a visit to his homeland
Jamaica to spend time with his family and friends. But, God
call him home. Jasbert will be surely missed
