Janis Delceta Russell, née Forde, was born in Guys Hill, St. Catherine, Jamaica, W.I., to her loving parents Edith Wauchope Forde and Renny Forde. She was the eldest of five children. On October 3, 2025, she peacefully transitioned from this life to her heavenly home.
From an early age, Janis displayed a heart full of compassion, humility, and grace — qualities that guided her throughout her life’s journey.
Janis was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Clement Hugh Russell, her devoted husband and lifelong companion. Their union was blessed with 41 years of marriage until his passing on July 23, 1999. Together, they built a home firmly grounded in faith, love, and family. Their union was blessed with nine children, and through them came a beautiful legacy of love that continues to flourish.
Affectionately known as Sister Jenny, Mommy, Grandmommy, and Aunt Jenny, Janis carried many titles — each one wrapped in love. Her kindness extended far beyond her home, touching countless lives through her generous spirit and unwavering faith in God.
She leaves to cherish her memory her nine beloved children: Beverley (Apostle Joseph Bolden), Mark Russell, Steve (Erica Russell), Patrick Russell, Annmarie (Sir Peter Thompson), Faith Russell, Hope (Andrew Hermit), Donna (Eric Powell), and Pierre Russell.
She is also survived by her siblings George, Pauline, Ernest, and Desrine; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; extended family; church family; and many dear friends.
Our beloved matriarch is now wrapped in the throne of God, embraced by His grace and mercy. May her soul forever rest in peace.
Mommy, we will miss you dearly. Your love will live on in our hearts forever.
