James E. Cook, Sr., affectionately known as “Charles” or “Cookie,” was born to Annie M. Cook and Joe Patton in Greenville, Alabama.
In his spare time, James enjoyed being in the company of others. He had a warm and outgoing personality and truly loved socializing and entertaining family and friends. He also had a passion for cooking, especially grilling and barbecuing. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. In his earlier years in Apopka, James was known as a top-ranking basketball scorer an accomplishment that remains recognized to this day.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Annie M. Cook and Joe Patton; his sisters, Terrie Cook and Regina Pugh; his brother, Michael Cook; his son, Terrence Cook Sr.; and his grandsons: Carneilous Dennison Sr. and Kyron Bradford Sr.
James leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted friend, Birthena Simpkins; his children, James Cook Jr. of Georgia, Corey Murray, James Cook, Tequlia Cook, and Keron Reddick Sr., all of Apopka. He also leaves his extended children, Antionette Bolden, Juleetia Hughley, Takeila Davis, Joseph Scott, Artisha Scott, and Manisha Scott.
He is also survived by his sisters, Vickie Cook, Stephanie Hughley, Kaye Humphry, and Tracey Patton Sills; his brother, Jacob Patton, Joe Patton Jr., Elone McCraken, Albert Patton, Anthony Patton, and Roy Cook; his stepmother, Betty Jean Patton; his special aunt, Francis Dorsey; and his special godbrothers, Lewis Simpson, Laron Bridges, and Robert Bridges, along with his special godmother, Laura Bridges.
He also leaves behind his uncles, Johnlee Kemp and Jerome Kemp, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
