Hopeton Knight Jr Obituary

Hopeton Patrick Knight, Jr. (Randy) entered this world at the Nassau County Medical
Center of Garden City, New York, on April 30, 1993. Born to Hopeton Patrick Knight, Sr.,
and Delores M. Knight, he was the last of three children and the only male child born to
the family. Randy spent the fist five years of his life living in New York, before the family
relocated to Oviedo, Florida.
On the morning of July 23, 2020, at approximately 11:30 AM, Randy was the victim of
a vicious unprovoked and fatal knife attack at his home. He succumbed to injuries from
multiple stab wounds to the chest and heart at the hand of a tenant.
Randy attended Lawton Elementary School, Sanford Middle School and Oviedo High,
where he was awarded his high school diploma in Spring 2012. After graduating from high
school, Randy enrolled at Valencia College to study engineering and business, and he later
transferred to Spartan College of Aeronautics & Technology, where he pursued studies in
aviation mechanics and was certifed in general aviation and corrosion control. He listed his
interests as mechanics, building and working with jet engines and automobiles, computers,
sports, and gaming. Although he was attending college and studying, Randy was not afraid
to work. He wore a few hats during his short earthly tenure, engaging his services with
Shanker Logistic Resources, Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a Warehouse Shipping and Inventory
Clerk, and an Aircraft Parts Inspector. At Conway Freight Services of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, he
was also employed as a Forklift Operator and Freight Inspector, and at Outback Steakhouse
of Oviedo, Florida as a Dishwasher, Fry Cook, and Salad Maker.
At infancy, Randy was consecrated and dedicated to God at the East Flatbush Church of
God and was brought up in church. He later confessed his faith in Christ as an adult and was
baptized by Bishop Daniel Malcolm at the Faith Tabernacle Deliverance Center of Orlando,
Florida. He loved to serve and volunteered during his youthful years as an Usher at Door
of Life Church of God. He also volunteered at the Lutheran Church Clinic and many other
places. Randy was a fun-loving and friendly soul who always greeted you with a smile and
loved giving hugs. His kind, gentle, and humble personality made him well-loved among
his family and friends. Despite COVID-19 restrictions limiting his favorite greeting act of
embrace, the night before he passed, he asked his mom to hug him. Luckily, they hugged,
and Randy got his heart’s desire of a mother’s loving hug and told her he loved her, before
departing for his home with a full serving of his favorite meal, “Mom’s curried chicken”. He
leaves to mourn his loss: father, Hopeton, Sr., mother, Delores, sisters, Loni and Oneisha,
nephew, De’Anthony, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, his Door of Light Church of God
family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
