Gloria Jean Jackson was born May 29, 1951 in Sorrento, Fla. to Lena Pearl and Dothan Jackson Sr. She was guided through her former years by her Maternal Grandmother, Vicie Lee Collier.
Gloria graduated from Mount Dora High School in 1969 and pursued a Higher Education at Valencia College, Orlando, Fla. from 1969 to 1970. Shortly thereafter she moved to Rochester, NY where she continued her Education at Monroe Community College and graduated with an Associates Degree in 1975. While in Rochester, she worked part time at Sibleys, one of the largest department stores in the Northeastern area.
She later experienced several medical issues and was forced to return home to Sorrento, Florida, where she spent the latter part of her life in Assisted Living Facilities within Orange County.
Gloria was the Big Sister and protector of her much younger siblings during Jr. High School, she was always willing to defend them if they were threatened by School Bullies. She was the sweetest sister, who always greeted you with a smile, a strong hug, and words of Love for the Family. She was a very Special Lady. Gloria was a very nice, loving and caring person, with a sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She loved having conversations with you by phone, this was her way of staying connected. She loved spending time with the Family on Holidays, enjoying good food, dancing and receiving gifts, and there were many that were set aside just for her.
Inspite of her health issues, she always called each of her siblings to check on “Family” and to say, “I Love You”. Gloria was good-natured and loveable, she had a humble spirit about her.
Gloria was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Dr. Phillips Hospital. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Lena Pearl and Dothan Jackson Sr., her Maternal Grandmother, Vicie Lee Collier and Grandfather, George Collier Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her Siblings, Shirley Roberts, Mary (Lee) Crumpler, Tommy (Linda) Jackson, Dothan Jr. (Betty) Jackson, Evelyn (Jimmie) Lockett, Lucinda Young, Sharon (Antonio) Rodriquez, Clarence Jackson, a special friend, William Charles, and a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
As we celebrate the life of Gloria, may we be inspired by the qualities she so effortlessly embodied: determination, kindness, humor, and selfless love. Let us plant gardens of kindness, cook up cherished memories, and walk in the light of purpose just as Gloria did. Her story continues as and enduring source of hope and inspiration.
