Geraldine McGarvin Obituary

REFLECTIONS OF LIFE
Geraldine “Gerri” La’Shelle McGarvin

A TIME TO BE BORN
In the wee hours of one winter night, a little brown stork began
circling over the peaceful city of Orlando, FL. Sammie Johnson
and Eva Mae McGarvin eagerly welcomed their little bundle of joy
Geraldine La’Shelle McGarvin who was born on January 18, 1950 in
Orlando, FL. Geraldine was taught daily to pray and love the Lord.

A TIME TO LEARN
Geraldine attended Orange County Public Schools and graduated
from Jones High School in 1968. She attended Bethune-Cookman
College and graduated in 1972. She was a member of the Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., of Gamma Tau Chapter in 1970.

A TIME TO SERVE
Gerri enjoyed helping people, she gave her life for many good causes
freely and unselfishly, her energy and time to make the better lives
of people, which led her to a career in Social Work in the State of
New Jersey and then a position as a Probation Officer with the State
of Florida, where she later retired. When talking to individuals her
favorite saying was “bless their little hearts”.

A TIME TO SHARE
Gerri enjoyed crocheting, listening to inspirational messages, and
helping anyone she could. She loved the Lord and was a member of
Orlando Christian Center (Pastor Benny Hinn) and Faith World
(Pastor Clint Brown). Gerri loved spending time with her grandson
Kelvin and helping him to become a loving person while in her care.
A TIME TO LEAVE
She is preceded in death by her parents late Sammie Johnson and
Eva Mae McGarvin Kelly and brother, Leroy McGarvin. On the
beautiful winter morning on Wednesday, January 25th, at 1:37am,
Geraldine soared on the wings of angels, to that sweet land of pure
delight, where there is no more sickness, sorrow or pain. She is
now resting in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior and we look
forward to that wonderful day when we will meet her again.

A TIME TO LOVE
Geraldine leaves to cherish her loving memories: son, Ronald W.
Smith, Jr. (Saundra), Newport News, VA; daughter, Evita Jacobs,
Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Kelvin Solomon, Jacksonville, FL;
brothers, James McGarvin (Gloria Jean), Apopka, FL and Sammie
