Floyd Law Obituary

Floyd Archie Laws, Sr., at the age of 85, of Apopka, Florida, passed away on August 26, 2024, at Advent Health in Orlando. His life began on July 10, 1939, in Holapaw, FL, born to the late Lloyd Law, Sr. and Inez Bennett Law. Throughout his years, Floyd embodied a life of love, commitment, and honesty.   

Floyd proudly served his country as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Marines, specializing in artillery. He later transitioned to a Drill Sergeant in the National Guard. His military experience significantly shaped his disciplined approach to life and deeply ingrained a strong sense of honor and loyalty. These principles influenced every aspect of his life, from his commitment to his community to his unwavering dedication to his family. 

Following his graduation from Charles R. Drew in 1957, Floyd pursued further studies in architecture at Del-Tech in Georgetown, Delaware. It was here that he developed a keen eye for design and structure. His fervor for construction led him to a rewarding career as a highly skilled master carpenter and home builder, where he brought homes to life from the ground up. Establishing **Laws Construction** was a significant achievement for him, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional craftsmanship and unwavering integrity. In his later years, Floyd dedicated himself to ensuring the safety of others as a security guard until his well-deserved retirement. 
 
A native of Florida, Floyd was recognized for his strong dedication to work, compassionate nature, and unwavering commitment to assisting others. Throughout his lifetime, he dedicated himself to supporting his loved ones and extending a helping hand to those in need. His comforting presence, insightful advice, and unassuming resilience made a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. 
 
Floyd had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He liked to spend his time playing golf or poker, immersed in a good book, or tending to his garden which allowed him to indulge his passion for landscaping and hands-on work. He found fulfillment in activities that kept him busy and productive. Floyd was also a dedicated sports enthusiast, particularly when it came to supporting his favorite teams. It was common knowledge that he was a devoted fan of both the Baltimore Orioles and the Ravens. 
 
Floyd was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Elvira Reeves Laws, with whom he shared close to twenty wonderful years of marriage with. Floyd was a proud father to five children: Anthony, Floyd Jr., Keila, Keyana, and Tiffany. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great children, nieces and nephews all of which were a constant source of pride and joy in his life. 

Proceeding him in death: Parents: Mr. Lloyd Law, Sr. & Mrs. Inez Bennett Law; 5 brothers: Walter, Calvin, Benjamin, James Edward & Johnny Law and 5 sisters: Algerine Battle, Cairlin Carn, Mary Alice, Altheria and Ethel Mae Law. 

He leaves to cherish his Legacy & Memories: His beautiful wife Elvira Reeves Laws; 3 brothers: Lloyd Law, Jr (Georgia Mae), Ernest Lee, David Law (Essie) and

1 sister: Essie Mae Law Jones.  His bond with his family was strong, and he remained close to his surviving siblings throughout his life.
