Evelyn Shanks was preceded in death by her mother, Nina Lora Lee; father, Henry Lee Jackson; husband, Earl Shanks II; son, Earl Shanks III; and her brother, Steven Jackson, Sr.

She was survived by: her children, Raymond Dawson (Diamonique), Lashanta Gurley, Monica Jackson (Santrez), Aquilla Shanks, Bridget Jackson (Gemayel), Ashley Jones (TaCorey), Tasha Barrett (Darren), and Angel Robinson (Reginald); brothers, Lonnie Jackson, Sr. (Yolanda), Timothy Jackson (Gwenett), Anthony Jackson, Michael Jackson, Xavier Bowie, Jim Bowie, Anthony Bowie, Marcus Bowie and Corey T. Mathis; sisters, Tracy Henderson, Amie Well (Darrell), Angela Hines (Leroy), and Stephanie Jackson; 36 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special adoptive children, Joshua Akins, Larry Harrison, and Tamu Williams; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Our Forever

Girl With a smile so bright that instantly warms our heart, you mothered us. You nurtured, protected, provided for, cherished, and loved us whole-heartedly and with a selfless spirit. The many sleepless nights you spent caring for us; the many days you spent loving us; we are forever grateful for you. You had so much love for us, even in our wrong. Although you held us accountable, you forever stood at our side and in front of us if need be. You had a heart of gold that you showered us with. Your hugs, kisses, and conversations are truly missed. Although we were not done and needed you forever more, we knew our Heavenly Father needed you more. As you told us, you enjoyed being our mother and God wanted you to rest. We knew that home that you would return to is your Heavenly home. From Alpha to Omega, you forever loved us. The joy of having you as a mother is a forever joy that we were blessed with. We thank you for the many hugs, losses, and inbetween. Our forever girl, we love you forever and ever and the hole in our hearts from your departure will be filled with the many memories we share with you as we rejoice and celebrate the life you ever so graciously and selflessly shared with us all. You are a one of a kind Mother and forever grateful for you, we are. Our Forever Girl.
