Derrick passed away on November 20, 2024. He is predeceased by: Aunt Bennie Mae Campbell and Uncle Bobby Maxwell.

Derrick is survived by: his Mother Maude; his Father Bill W. Maxwell, his Daughter Jasmine Maxwell; his Granddaughter Aaliyah Maxwell; his Brothers:  Bill W. Maxwell III and Darryl Maxwell; his Sisters: Sophia Maxwell (Cliff) and Melissa Robinson; his Aunts: Ruth Powell (Hosie), Bertha Stanley (Joe), Verda Vasser(Woodrow), Patricia Freeman (Lewis), Debra Smith (Jack),  Evelina Dallas (Thomas-deceased), Lorraine Maxwell (Virgil-deceased), Gail Maxwell (Guito), Barbara Maxwell, and Gloria Maxwell (Kevin); his Uncles: Willie Vasser, Berry  Vasser,  Abner Vasser, Vincent Maxwell (Gloria), and Patricia Freeman (Lewis); other sorrowing relatives and friends
