BOBBY HOUSTON BRIDGES was born August 11, 1948, in Opelika,
Alabama, to Annie Love Stevenson Bridges and Tilman Eddie
Bridges that preceded him in death.
Bobby moved to Apopka, Florida, from Opelika, Alabama, at an
early age, where he where he matriculated at Phyllis Wheatley
schools. He represented his leadership skills by becoming the
captain of the Wheatley football team and leading them to the
state championship in 1967. Later, he attained a scholarship to
Tampa Tech where he studied architectural engineering.
It was at Phyllis Wheatley where he met Jerene M. Simpkins. They
married, and to their union, they had five loving children.
Bobby was a hard working, loving, and devoted family man. He
had an outgoing personality with a smile worth a thousand words.
He never met a stranger and to know him
was to love him!!!
Bobby will truly be missed and will forever
be in our hearts.
He leaves to cherish his memories: children,
Tasha, Monica (Toby), Bobby Jr. (Matoka),
Eddie (Tiera), Melia Bridges, and Randy
Mathews, all of Apopka; siblings, Nelladean
(Winston), Josephine, Elaine, and Sandra,
all of Apopka, Ronnie (Rudy) of Opelika,
AL, and Patrina McMath of Apopka,
FL; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Bridges of
Apopka, FL; special niece, Andrea Bridges
of Apopka, FL; special nephew, Keith
(Debra) Bridges of Apopka, FL; and a host
of grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing
friends.
He was preceded in death by loved ones,
Ora and Arthur Lee Bridges; Tilman
and Annie Love Bridges, Ethel Romelia,
Almedia, John T., and Lorenzo (Sim)
Theodis; loving brother, Lorenzo Bridges;
and nephew, Keith (Debra) of Apopka, FL.
