Bernadine Anthonette Bowman Murray was born on October 23, 1967, to Isaac and Barbara Bowman in Brooklyn, NY. She lived and attended school in Queens, NY, graduating from Martin Van Buren High School. She continued her education at Princeton University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English and going on to complete her master’s degree at Columbia University. She worked as an educator with the New York City Board of Education for many years. Bernadine, affectionately known as Berni, was a loving wife to Norman (Karl) Murray and adoring mother to Alexandria (Alex). The family relocated to Orlando, Florida where she resided until August 31, 2021, when she transitioned to her heavenly home.
Bernadine had an immense love for the Lord and the arts. She was always an active member of every church she attended - from East Flatbush Church of God (Brooklyn, NY) to Higher Dimension Church of God (Orlando, FL), where she served as a faithful member and director of choirs and praise and worship teams over the years. She directed the Princeton University Gospel Choir and was a founding member of an a capella group at the university, the Wildcats.
Bernadine leaves to cherish her memory her husband, daughter, bonus children and grandchildren, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and a host of family, friends, and colleagues.
