Aston Frith Obituary

Aston Frith ("Tim")

With sincere thanks to everyone who has come today to bid farewell to Aston Frith, affectionately known to many as Tim. Your presence, prayers, and support mean more than words can express.

Aston was born on August 14, 1939, to his mother, Evelyn Frith, in the district of Bath, Manchester, Jamaica. From early on, he was shaped by strong family values, faith, and community. He attended Nazareth All-Age School and was a devoted member of Bath Moravian Church, where his family held deep roots. His grandfather served faithfully as a deacon, setting an example of service that Aston would later follow in his own life.

In the early 1960s, Aston began traveling to the United States and Canada through the farm work program. These years reflected his strong work ethic, determination, and willingness to sacrifice for a better future. In 1980, he made the decision to remain in the United States, and in 1981 he married the love of his life, Lena Sutherland. Their union was one of companionship, faith, and shared purpose. In 1989, Aston and his family moved to Orlando, Florida, where he continued to build a life rooted in family and church.

In 2001, Lena joined Harvest Missionary Church, and soon after, Aston also became a committed member. Their faith deepened, and in time, Aston answered the call to serve as a deacon, alongside his wife, Deaconess Frith. Together, they served with humility, dedication, and love for God’s people.

Aston was also known for his love of animals. While living in Jamaica, his dogs accompanied him wherever he went, a small but meaningful reflection of his gentle spirit and caring heart.

After the passing of his beloved wife Lena in April 2019, Aston faced a deep sense of loss and the quiet loneliness that followed the absence of the family life she had so lovingly created. He spent holidays visiting his daughter in South Carolina, returning to Florida afterward. As time went on, his health began to decline, and in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was hospitalized. Out of love and concern, his daughter and granddaughter made the decision to bring him to South Carolina so they could care for him more closely.

Even as his health changed, Aston held on to his love of travel, especially visits to Florida and Jamaica. During one visit to Jamaica, doctors discovered a serious heart condition. He returned to South Carolina, where his health briefly improved before continuing to decline. In his final years, Aston endured significant health challenges that limited his independence and eventually required long-term care. Through it all, he showed quiet strength, perseverance, and grace.

On December 6, 2025, at 7:43 pm Aston peacefully took his final breath, surrounded by his loving daughter and grandchildren.

Aston was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Frith; his daughter, Rose Marie Frith; and his granddaughter, Suzette Frith. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, one son, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Today, as we remember Aston Frith, we celebrate a life marked by hard work, devotion, resilience, and love. Though he has gone from our sight, his legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the church he served, and the lives he touched.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may we carry forward the lessons of his life with gratitude and love.
