On March 21, 1930 Maggie Lee Love-Douglas was born in Tarrytown, Montgomery County, Georgia to the late Gennie Beacham and Leon Love.

She attended school in Soperton, Treutlen County, Georgia.

Maggie Lee Love, was affectionately called “Bobie” by her mother and sister, Daisy “Tonch”, and family. A special nickname, “My Bulldog” was given to her by her Aunt Babe, who helped raise her and recognized unique qualities in her character: a maverick-like spirit; a toughness, quick to defend herself, she was often out-spoken, yet candid and true to her comments   These attributes of character became the substance of her resilience as she lived her spirited life, facing and surviving some of life’s challenges - a survivor.

At an early age, her dedication to Christian service began at First Church of Christ in Soperton, Georgia where her mother taught her the beliefs of Christianity. Maggie later became a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Winter Park, Florida.

Maggie was quick to learn and as a youngster honed her culinary skills from her mother who was a master chef of Southern Soul Food. Later, in her life, the aromas from her kitchen brought kin and friends from far and near to enjoy delicious and authentic dishes she prepared everyday of the week. We remember her kitchen and home as a welcome and comforting place to find southern hospitality.

She was blessed with her one and only beautiful daughter, “Precious Maggie L. Love-Burton”, who made her life full and complete with happiness and joy. She began domestic work at an early age as a cook-housekeeper and nanny for several families in Bronx, New York, and Winter Park, Florida. God blessed Maggie with the innate ability to be nurturing, caring and a compassionate-loving mother for both her own child, and the children of those Bronx and Winter Park families.

Maggie lived a life full of fun, laughter and a great love for music, especially old gospel hymns, and Rhythm & Blues. She enjoyed traveling to Georgia to see family; Miami to see close friends, and New Jersey to visit her grandson, Terrance and his family. Maggie was united in marriage to Willie Douglas of Orlando, Florida to this union no children.

God, in his infinite wisdom and perfect timing, looked over the portals of heaven and saw Maggie on her sick bed and dispatched a host of angels to come and bring His beloved daughter home. Maggie answered God’s call to eternity Thursday evening, September 14, 2017.
